Hi Everyone
I’m away from Crystal Palace at the moment studying for an MA in Lampeter! I’m not exactly round the corner but I am virtually here. News from various sources is getting to me on the growing tide of support for The Cinema for Crystal Palace Campaign and the popularity of Crystal Palace Pictures at the Gipsy Hill Tavern. Therefore, I have resurrected Jerry Green’s well-researched article on the cinemas of Crystal Palace and put it on the home page so you all can see what we had in our cinematic heyday. I have also added a poll to the right-hand side of this page asking to vote on the cinema proposal.
This article could not be more topical as on the Thursday 17th of December at Bromley Civic Hall, Bromley Council are holding a planning meeting to consider Kingsway International Christian Centre’s application on the Gala Bingo Hall in Church Road (formerly the Rialto cinema). The Crystal Palace Community Association has written a letter of objection to the change of use. So once again “hope springs eternal”. Lets hope that yet another chance to give Crystal Palace an amenity it truly deserves.
